ISO 22000 Certification
ISO 22000:2018 is an international standard that specifies requirements for food safety management systems for any organization in the food chain. ISO 22000 certification confirms that a company controls food safety hazards at every stage — from raw material production to the final consumer. The standard integrates HACCP principles with a systematic management approach and is recognized worldwide as a reliable tool for ensuring food safety.

ISO 22000 Certification Process
The certification process at Imperium Certific follows ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements.
Stage 1 — Application and preliminary assessment — The organization submits a certification application. We analyze the scope of activities, organization size, and management system documentation readiness. The audit scope is determined and a quotation is prepared.
Stage 2 — Stage 1 audit (documentation review) — Auditors evaluate the food safety management system documentation: policy, HACCP plan, hazard analysis, prerequisite programmes (PRPs). Readiness for the on-site audit is determined.
Stage 3 — Stage 2 audit (on-site) — The audit team conducts the audit directly at the organization's production sites. Practical implementation and effectiveness of the management system are assessed, including critical control point (CCP) management.
Stage 4 — Certification decision — Based on audit results, a certification decision is made. If nonconformities are identified, the organization is given a defined timeframe for corrective action.
Stage 5 — Certificate issuance — The ISO 22000 certificate is issued for a 3-year period. Annual surveillance audits are conducted throughout this period to confirm ongoing conformity.

HACCP is a hazard analysis and critical control point methodology that forms a component of ISO 22000. The ISO 22000 standard extends HACCP principles by adding management system requirements, prerequisite programmes (PRPs), operational prerequisite programmes (OPRPs), and continual improvement.
If a food safety management system is already implemented, the process from application to certificate issuance typically takes 4 to 8 weeks. Audit duration is determined in accordance with IAF MD 5 guidance.
For food product exports to the EU, Middle East, Asia, and other regions, ISO 22000 certification is either mandatory or a significant competitive advantage.
